Discharged from duty for a few months before he gets back into the field. Ace shows a lot of perseverance, curiosity, bravery, but is also frightened to hell by the demons he would soon be deployed to exterminate. Like Todd he is also a Devil Hunter.
During his line of duty, he was considered a hero since he saved 51 men from an opposition flank, though during this heroic action he got both of his arms injured badly and shot clean off by the opposition.
After this act, the government acknowledged Ace's act of heroism and rewarded him with high end prosthetics that also work as weapons. But there was a condition, and if he didn’t accept he would not get the prosthetics. The condition was to join a special sector group, the government's Bio-Weapon-Extermination-Faction.
Unlike Todd, Ace is just a human and is more prone to getting badly injured and every mission he has is highly lethal to him. Ace is also friends with Todd, they met when both him and todd were sent to the same location for an investigation that ended up being a ambush, which todd (at the time was a merc) took down the men surrounding them while tanking 5 shots to the chest. Ace was scared after not knowing what exactly todd is then was given a short run down by him.
